Cruising
2009 Cruising Information
There are currently two confirmed Club Cruises planned for 2009, 13th June and the 30th August, the latter during the Family Fun Weekend. There is possibility of further cruises dependant on uptake.
Generally the cruise will take on one of two formats either a single tide cruise starting after a briefing with the cruise lasting 3 to 4 hours, or a double tide Cruise leaving on a falling tide returning on a rising tide approximately 4 to 5 hours later.
The route/destination for each cruise naturally will be dependant on tides and forecast weather conditions on the day.
The initial thoughts for the first cruise on Saturday 13th June is a single tide cruise to the Royal Victoria Yacht Club (RVYC) Fishbourne on the Isle of wight. Plan to assemble at the club for a briefing at 11:15 with the aim to be on the water as soon as the tide will allow around 12:00. The passage time should be around 1 to 1.5 hours. Lunch in RVYC bar or if you prefer you can take packed. Departing RVYC approximately 15:00 arriving back at Calshot 1630-1700
The second Cruise on the 30th August will be a double tide cruise departing after a briefing at around 11:00 heading west for lunch at Lepe and perhaps a short trip up the Beaulieu river before returning on the next tide to the club around 16:00
Wherever we go will it definitely involve a shore stop for lunch, so bring a packed lunch (and a little bit of money just in case). Spare clothes lunch etc. within reason can be carried in the rescue boat.
Note: these are cruises not races so there are no restrictions on the type of boat you sail providing it is seaworthy but please no Oppys!!
So that we can get rough idea of numbers can you please let me know the week before the planned cruise if you are intending to participate.
If you have a boat which needs a crew or want to crew on a boat please come along and we can match crews and boats on the day.
Please Barry Oliver the Cruising Secretary for further information.
