Club Program
Calshot Sailing Club 2010 Season
Welcome to the Calshot Sailing Club Programme 2010. This year, as in previous years, we have tried to cater for the wishes of all members regardless of age or ability. Please take the time to read the information on these web pages which explain the different events. Should you require any further information or have any questions then feel free to contact myself or any other committee member.
A lot of effort has been put into providing the activities - make this effort worthwhile by supporting as many as you can and make 2010 a successful season for all. Follow the link to access the on-line programme and refer to the notes below for an outline of the activities.
The programme will also show you your allocated OOD duty days - the notes here outline your repsonsibilites and provide guidance for the less experienced. For those of you who have not been allocated any duties be aware that you may be asked to stand in as the seaon progresses - the list has had to be compiled from last years membership details - it is inevitable that some members may not renew membership.

TRAINING
The programme shows training courses currently planned, additional training may be included as the season progresses. Further details will be provided on the website, in newsletters and by direct mailshot.
The nature of training means that places will generally have to be booked in advance - please contact Andy Sutton or Richard Brooks for further information.
SUPERVISED SAILING
These sessions are aimed at the less experienced or less confident sailors who may need a little informal help. Safety cover will be provided and we will endeavour to ensure that an instructor, coach or experienced sailor is be available to assist and offer advice.
RACING
All members, regardless of experience are eligible to compete in any club race, entry being made on the day.
All races are handicap races with the exception of Open Meetings and the Topper Grand Prix. Sailing instructions for these events will be published separately.
Races are sailed under the Rules identified in the Calshot Sailing Club Club Race Sailing Instructions 2010, handicaps determined by the Portsmouth Yardstick Scheme.
Race Start times advertised can only be postponed and will not be any earlier.
CRUISING AND FAMILIES
There are 2 family camps planned and several cruises throughout the year. These are open to all members of all experience levels, further details being provided nearer the time via the website and newsletters.
SAFETY COVER
During club races, supervised sailing sessions and others where Safety Cover is indicated there will be safety boat(s) on the water to provide cover for ALL club members. The designated OODs on the day are responsible for providing this cover in accordance with the Club Safety Policy.
SAFETY POLICY
All activities will be conducted in accordance with The Club's Safety Policy and recognised good practice. This policy is available for refernece here and in the clubhouse.
Members must recognise that they participate in club activities at their own risk - it is a principle of Maritime Law that the skipper is solely responsible for the safety of their vessel and crew, in particular the decision as to whether to venture off the shore.
