We always welcome new members at Calshot.
We have several categories of membership aimed at Individuals, Families, Juniors and Students. Please refer to the Membership Fees page for details.
We do like to meet prospective members before they join. Membership application forms can be obtained from the club house and then returned to the Membership Secretary. When your application has been accepted, you will be sent a letter of acceptance and a registration form.
We will be happy to show you around if you are passing. If you wish to visit the club, please refer to the Programme of Events for dates when you are sure to to find someone there. Someone will be happy to show you the Facilities and answer any questions you may have.
Sailing is important, but social events feature in the club programme as well. These are for all ages and tastes
Q. Is there a joining fee?
A. Yes, there is a one off fee of £30 payable for New Adult Members.

Q. Is there a waiting list for a boat space?
A. No, not usually, but you do need to join as a member in order to bring your boat in the compound.
Q. Can I join if I don't have a boat?
A. Yes, you don't need to own a boat to enjoy sailing at Calshot. We have a fleet of club dinghys that are available for all members to use. Please click here for more information.
Q. Will you teach me to sail?
A. We have a Coaching Programme that is aimed at junior members. However, for most enjoyment we recommend you attend an RYA recognised course.

Q. Can I sail at Calshot without being a member?
A. Yes, but you will need a member to sign you in. This is to ensure that you are covered by insurance. It is better to try it a few times before you join, to see if it is for you.
Q. As a full member, can I bring my friends to Calshot Sailing Club?
A. Yes, you are welcome to bring any friends to the club. A full member can sign in friends up to 6 times in the year. If they were going to be a regular visitors, we would expect them to join.
Q. Can I use the facilities when there is no racing?
A. Of course. It is important to remember that the safety boats will only be available for organised club events.
Q. How is the racing organised?
A. Racing is based on a PY Handicap system, usually with one start for all boats. The Programme of Events is published at the beginning of the race season.
Q. Do I have to race?
A. No, we wish all our members to have a good time. If racing is not for you, please feel free to come down and "go for a sail".
Q. Do I have to do club duties?
A. Yes, there is only one duty that is compulsory and is an integral part of Calshot Sailing Club. This duty is the OOD, (Officer Of the Day). These are the people that run the racing on any particular day. Training is provided and Inexperienced members will be put together with experienced members so you do not have to worry about not having done it before.
All other duties are voluntary.
